Throw back Thursday - Geordie Shore!

Today's throw back Thursday goes to a small acting job I did back in March for the new promo advert for season 10 of Geordie Shore! Auditions for this role were held in the fantastic Camden Town in London at the MTV headquarters, the audition was so much fun and I landed the job! I was so excited to be working with MTV and the Geordie Shore Cast.

I spent a day filming in a studio somewhere in Angel, Islington. The whole day was an eye opening and amazing experience. All of the actors were very well looked after by MTV Crew and the cast were so friendly. I laughed for a lot of the day as I'm sure fans of the show can imagine! My role for the advert was the role of 'Gaz Girl 1' fans of the show will also understand what that pretty much means... For this role I 'had' to kiss Gaz on screen, ALOT! And to be perfectly honest it was easy because I was made to feel very comfortable by Gaz and the crew, we had a right laugh, something I won't forget in a hurry. I also got involved in a party scene at the end of the advert with the whole cast and some other actors which was loadssss of fun.

New Actors Headshots Babbbyyyy!

So a few weeks ago I travelled to Islington, London to have new actors headshots taken with a well known photographer Philip Wade. Headshots can be a stressful time for actors, the last time I had headshots done I had a meltdown afterwards because I didn't like my eyebrows on the shots! NIGHTMARE I know.

So in preparation for my new fancy London headshots I had my eyebrows done a couple of days before, ORGANISED... Attempted to have a couple of early nights prior to the shoot (I'm pretty much nocturnal) but I did try! And also drank lots and lots of water, a couple of tips that photographers advise prior to their clients having their headshots done.

I chose to go with Philip partly because my agents recommended him but also because his work is
impressive and his prices are reasonable, especially for a London photographer. The whole shoot was a pleasurable experience from beginning to end. Philip was easy going but very professional. On arrival we discussed what type of looks I wanted to create and how we could achieve these looks using different clothes and hairstyles etc. The shoot lasted around 2 hours and throughout I felt comfortable and relaxed, which I believe played a massive factor in the outcome of my shots, which you can view below.

Always do what you are afraid to do...

So last weekend (Friday) I received an email from my agent, stating that I had an audition on Sunday and was to prepare a one minute classical speech. CLASSICAL. Immediately I panicked, I haven't done any classical work in a while, not since training. After frantically panicking/screaming and stressing I managed to calm my self down, I got in touch with some actor friends and girls that I trained with and I eventually decided on a speech from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream. Instantly I was reminded of the beauty of Shakespeare and I really fell in love with the piece again, especially the character I had chosen to portray, Helena. Helena is a fiery character, passionate, erratic and head over heels in love with one of the other characters Demetrius... The problem is, he's in love with Helena's childhood friend Hermia. Hey, we've all been there! I worked hard all weekend learning my lines and really getting to grips with my character so come Sunday I was ready to go in to that audition room and show the casting directors what I was made of.

A problem I find amongst British actors compared to the likes of American actors is that we don't really appreciate ourselves when we've done a good job, however we are quick to beat our selves up over something we haven't done so well, for example a bad audition. In this industry positivity is vital. We have to pick our selves back up from knock backs all the time, its part of the job. If we forever doubted ourselves or questioned our ability we would never survive. There is always something positive we can take from a negative experience, we can learn from it and effectively grow from our mistakes. I can honestly say that on Sunday, I forced myself out of my comfort zone and it paid off, I did an excellent audition and reminded myself of my versatility as an actress. The head director gave me some amazing feedback after my speech and I walked out of that audition room feeing electric! On top of that I also made some amazingly talented new friends from the industry. I haven't yet heard back from the company I auditioned for, however the experience alone has massively boosted my confidence and I will never panic over performing a classical piece again. I am no one trick pony!

ALWAYS do what you are afraid to do... You might just learn something about yourself.

Lets get things moving...

So just last week I signed with a new actors agency and I am now represented by the lovely Charli and Dani at Creative Kidz & Adultz. Barely even a week into joining their agency I received my first casting which took place yesterday in Manchester. The audition went really well and I also got to meet some lovely people including Lorna Tinsley who is also represented by Creative Kidz & Adultz.

This was my first audition of 2015... It’s not quite January any more, however I am so happy to be getting back into the swing of things.
